How To Apply and Qualify For Top Women in Security ASEAN Region Awards 2023

The ASEAN Top Women in Security Awards are now open to all ASEAN member states.

The Top Women in Security ASEAN Region Awards are part of the Women in Security & Resilience Alliance’s global campaign. (WISECRA).

This initiative is open to all ASEAN member states and follows the awards’ success in 2022 and 2021; it was inaugurated with the Top Women in Security Awards held in Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines in 2020.

Award Categories

ASEAN Country Award Singapore: Recognizes Singapore-specific contributions, leadership, influence, and mentoring in the security industry. There may be more than one victor.

ASEAN Country Award Malaysia: Recognizes Malaysia-specific contributions, leadership, influence, and mentoring in the security industry. There may be more than one victor.

ASEAN Country Award Indonesia: Recognizes Indonesia-specific contributions, leadership, influence, and mentoring in the security industry. There may be more than one victor.

ASEAN Country Award Thailand: Recognizes Thailand-specific contributions, leadership, influence, and mentoring in the security industry. There may be more than one victor.

ASEAN Country Award Vietnam: Recognizes Vietnam-specific contributions, leadership, influence, and mentoring in the security industry. There may be more than one victor.

ASEAN Country Award Philippines: Recognizes Philippines-specific contributions, leadership, influence, and mentoring in the security industry. There may be more than one victor.

ASEAN Country Award Cambodia: Recognizes Cambodia, Brunei, Myanmar, and Laos-specific contributions, leadership, or mentoring in the security industry. There may be more than one victor.

Cybersecurity: Recognizes leadership, innovation, and mentoring in the domain of information and computer security (cybersecurity).
Asean Region Award: Recognizes the Southeast Asia region’s top woman in security.

Electronics Security: Recognizes leadership, innovation, and mentoring in the field of electronics and technical security, including video surveillance, detection, and access control systems.

Security Trainer or Educator: Recognizes leadership, innovation, or mentoring in the security-related training or education domain.

Risk & Resilience Professional: Recognizes leadership, innovation, and mentoring in the discipline of risk management and resilience.

Security Researcher: This award recognises leadership, innovation, or mentoring in the field of security research.
Security Professional Ambassador (Open Category): An open category to recognise a security professional who demonstrates advocacy and mentoring to promote positive and advantageous perceptions within the security discipline.

Cyber Risk Leader (Open Category): An open category for professionals demonstrating leadership in cybersecurity, risk, and resilience across the ASEAN region.

Eligibility Standards

This initiative is open to all ASEAN member states and follows the awards’ success in 2022 and 2021; it was inaugurated with the Top Women in Security Awards held in Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines in 2020.
Women holding senior security positions, such as CISO, Global Head of Cyber Threat Prevention, Operation Director, Senior Business Director, Executive Director – Information & Cyber Security Risk, Security Lead – Cybersecurity GRC, and Threat Exposure Management lead, are frequently nominated.
Self-nomination is encouraged. The nominees must be women with at least three years of experience in the security industry, including cybersecurity, electronics, physical, protective, and risk management roles. Open Category Awards are offered to everyone. (men and women).

Judging Method

The judges will be required to evaluate each nomination separately and assign a score between 1 and 20. When multiple nominations exist for a single individual, judges are requested to evaluate each nomination.

The greatest scores for each respective award category will be determined by combining the judges’ scores. Candidates may select multiple categories. In the event of a deadlock in points, the prize will be split.

Judging Rationale

The judges will evaluate the following criteria, which is by no means exhaustive:
Influence or Speakout in the Industry Mentoring and coaching
Participation in Projects, Programs, and Events Research Importance
Contribution to Education and Teaching
Support for the development of women in security
Content Creation and Distribution
