Are you a Rwandan student battling the ups and downs of finding a good research institution or financing for your higher education? We are pleased to announce fully funded Italian Scholarships for Rwandans to attend Italian institutions with international accreditation.

There is a scarcity of information online about how Rwandans can apply for one of the few accessible Italian scholarships for university study. But there are literally thousands of them available online, and many of them are specifically targeted at pupils from Rwanda.

The 12 authentic Italian scholarships, studentships, fellowships, and research grants listed below are all deserving of your time and consideration.

The following scholarship opportunities are available to students in Rwanda, Africa, and developing countries. Most of these scholarships have rolling dates within a few months, so getting started on your applications now is in your best interest.

Scholarships in Italy for High School Seniors in Rwanda – 2019-2020

The Italian Government‘s Undergraduate, Graduate, and Postdoctoral Fellowship Program, 2023

Rwandan students interested in pursuing a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree in the arts (including Music and Dance), or Doctorate degree (Research under academic supervision, Italian Language and Culture Courses) at an Italian university in the 2020–2021 school year are encouraged to apply for a grant offered by the Italian Government.

Italy CICOPS Scholarships for Developing Countries at the University of Pavia, 2023

There are ten Italian scholarships available for Rwandan students to spend between four and twelve weeks studying at the University of Pavia in 2021, thanks to a partnership between the university and the Organisation for the Right to Education (EDiSU). These scholarships are dedicated to professors and researchers from Rwanda who desire to conduct out research with a professor at the University of Pavia.

Degree Obtained: Doctorate

Value of Scholarship: Approximately 150.00 Euro (gross) per week in addition to travel (economy class) and living expenses covered by the scholarship.

Annually, the application deadline is May 31.

Scholarships for the Ph.D. Research Programme 2023 at the Italian Institute for Advanced Study (I.M.T.

Those from Rwanda who wish to pursue doctoral studies in the fields of economics, engineering, computer science, neurosciences and behavioural psychology, physics, applied physics, applied mathematics, statistics, and cultural legacy are eligible for Italian Scholarships at the I.M.T. School for Advanced Studies Lucca.

S.D.A. Bocconi School of Management, Italy, Master of Business Administration Scholarships for African Students, 2023

Two exceptionally qualified applicants for the M.B.A. programme in 2021 will each receive a merit-based tuition waiver from S.D.A. Bocconi School of Management.

Cattolica Africa Master’s Scholarship Program 2023, Italy

For the 2021–2023 school year, the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (UCSC) is providing Rwandans with Italian Scholarships to enrol in certain Master’s degree programmes.

Award Value: Annual Tuition of €5,540.

Date Limit for Applications:

Annual Second Round: February 2nd – March 15th

Annually between 16 March 2019 and 15 April is the Third Round.

Grants for International Students to Attend Bologna’s University

Study grants and complete tuition waivers are available to qualified Rwandan students who wish to enrol in the University of Bologna’s First, Single, and Second Cycle Degree Programmes in Academic Year 2021.

Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree Programs

Value of the Scholarship:

• Five €11,059 study scholarships (Unibo Action 2) and twenty thousand euros in tuition waivers (Unibo Action 1) for First Cycle and Single Cycle degree programmes.

Twenty scholarships of €11,059 each will be awarded to students enrolled in Second Cycle degree programmes (Unibo Action 2), and one hundred thousand euros will be waived in tuition fees (Unibo Action 1).

Annual application deadline is between March 29 and April 30.

7 out of 20 International Student Scholarships at Italy’s Tor Vergata University, 2023

Twenty Italian Scholarships are available at Tor Vergata University in Rome for Rwandans who completed their secondary school education abroad.

Individual Scholarship Award: Euro 1,288,000.00 (One-Time Payment) (gross of tax law withholding taxes).

Scuola Normale Superiore (S.N.S.) International Ph.D. Fellowships 2021-2023, Italy

Rwandans interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in Astrochemistry, Global History, Governance, or Transnational Governance at Italy’s prestigious Scuola Normale Superiore are encouraged to apply for one of the university’s completely funded Italian Scholarships.

Degree Obtained: Doctorate

Value of Award: Full financial assistance for all expenses related to attending college, including tuition, fees, housing, meals, books, transportation, and research.

The yearly application deadline is on August 24th.

Ninety Max Weber International Postdoctoral Fellowships in 2023; Florence, Italy

The Max Weber Fellowship Programme at the European University Institute (E.U.I.) in Florence, Italy is currently accepting applications for the 2021 intake. Economics, history, law, and the social and political studies are all available areas of study for Rwandans receiving this Italian scholarship.

Value of Award: Monthly stipend of €2,000 plus €1,000 for living expenses and $1,000 for study

Annually, the application process ends on October 18th.

Tenth Annual Rockefeller Foundation International Writers’ Residency, Italy 2023

Academics, artists, thought leaders, policymakers, and practitioners can find a peaceful environment conducive to goal-oriented work at the Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Residency Programme, as well as the unique opportunity to network with residents from a wide range of fields and locations.

Grants for Food and Nutrition Researchers in 2023 from the Barilla Center for Food and Nutrition (BCFN) and YES! (Young Earth Solutions) in Italy

Research proposals from young Ph.D. and postdoc researchers of any background and country are encouraged for the 2021 BCFN YES! Research Grant Competition.

Value of Scholarship: 20,000 Euros to be used over the course of a year for study.

International Students in Italy: 2023 OWSD Early Career Fellowship

Women who have earned a doctorate in a STEM field are encouraged to apply for the OWSD Early Career Fellowship through the organisation Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD).

Italy is hosting.

Academic Degree: Ph.D.

Award Amount: $50,000 U.S.
